Lifeafter Review: The Best Realistic Android Game?

Last updated:

Lifeafter in one word superb! it is the most realistic Android game that I ever played period!!

Lifeafter is a mobile game developed by NetEase, the same company that also developed the Rules of Survival (ROS).

Lifeafter first appeared in the year 2018 in the Chinese market and quickly draw the attention of gamers around the globe even though it has not been officially released, there are some gamers that download the apps and games and try to understand the Chinese language.

In the year 2019 NetEase officially released its English version, one of my friends told me to try this game, and I decided to write a review about the Android game Lifeafter.

I have been playing Lifeafter for almost a month and I will share with you guys my experience with this Android game named “Lifeafter”.

First, the graphics, like all of the games developed by NetEase Lifeafter is no exception, it has superb and good quality graphics, and the Colors are well balanced and realistic from large to small details like trees, mountains, weapons, and the avatar or the characters are all balanced and realistic.

Lifeafter gameplay

Like in this image the Trees that I’m going to cut down look like real tree, and the developer gives an effort to every small detail.

In gameplay, Lifeafter is kinda unique because you are the one to create or to craft all of the stuff, from gears, weapons, tools, armor, house, and even your food.

After you craft all your gear you are now ready to take some actions battling zombies on a wasteland, but be careful because there are some maps like a warzone that some hostile player may attack you, so don’t let your guard down and make sure to equipped a better armor and weapon when you are entering a warzone like Farstar city.

Aside from war-zone maps like Farstar city, there is also a PVP mode like Nancy City battle where you and your teammate should work together to defeat the opposing team.

During the PVP mode on Lifeafter the only problem is the control, it was really hard to aim, shoot, and jump at the same time cuz it was really hard to press the shooting button and the jump button simultaneously, not like on PC where you can shoot while jumping without ease.

Lifeafter cert introduction

This thing is crucial for some players because choosing the best Job that is suited for you is quite confusing, a cert or a job can give you some of the benefits and opportunities to earn some gold bars.

Like for me, Iv chooses Lumber Jack or a Logger, I can cut down some trees that other players can’t, except if they are also a Lumber Jack, same goes to any gathering master Cert Like Hempicker and Miner, they can get an exclusive item that can be sold on a market to earn some gold bars.

By the Way except for crafting some gears and weapons, you can also buy it from trade city using gold bars, its the place where players buy and sell some weapons, gears, armors, etc.

For Free to play players it is recommended to choose to gather experts like hemp picker, Lumber Jack or Miner for a reason that it is easy to sell exclusive resources from gather expert cert.

And besides gathering expert Cert, there is also a combat expert cert which is useful on PVP mode that can deal with a high percentage of damage Like Warrior Cert that is known for their tankinis and Virus expert, Rifleman, Sniper that is known for their great amount of burst damage.

Life After Cert Tips

Tips no.1

Choosing the best Cert in Lifeafter is depends on you If you are a Free to Play I highly recommend choosing a gathering expert like a Hemp picker, Lumber Jack, or miner for the reason that it is much easy or earn some gold bars by selling exclusive resources to trade city.

Tips no. 2

If you are in a new server, Craft experts like Upholstery and gun maker can earn some gold bars by selling their professional exclusive items because at an early stage of Lifeafter, their product is highly in demand.

Tips no.3

If you are willing to spend some real cash on this game combat expert are probably for you, because combat expert is known to deal great damage even in PVP, all of the combat expert cert job Like Rifleman and virus expert are known to deal a lot of damage even in PVP, the only problem is the Gold bars because combat expert Cert/Job doesn’t have exclusive resources or product to sell in trade city prepare your self to spent real money in the game.

my customized control in lifefater

The controls are hard at first especially if you are a PC gamer, but you will get used to it, the developer put some effort to make its control buttons more customizable so you can shoot and jump at the same time as the one on PC/ Lifeafter PC version.

There is also an option to enable Gyroscope and aim assistor which can help you more at aiming and shooting a moving target, but it still depends on you to used Gyroscope and Aim assistor, like me I’ve prepared not to used aim assistor because of a reason that its interfere with my aiming and shooting strategy.

The performance is pretty solid, it gives a fluid performance—but it still depends on a device, internet speed, and Geographic location.

I’m not trying to be rude or criticize those with a lower-end device but just for real, this game is not for those phones with lower specs, it is still playable though, but the lag is real! if you are not using a better smartphone you will keep experiencing lags especially if there are a huge amount of players nearby.

Tips for better performance

Tip number 1

In choosing a phone for playing this game Lifeafter, I highly recommend those with 4GB of RAM and a better processor, choose a Snapdragon Processor rather than Mediatek, but don’t get me wrong Mediatek Processor are getting better and better, but Snapdragon processor is more proven in gaming.

Tips number 2

Internet and geographical location are crucial why? because even if you have a high-end phone but your internet speed was pretty much slow it’s useless.

How about a geographical location? it works like this, the example you are from the U.S and you decided to create an account in SEA server like Charles Town, for example, you are playing in the southeast Asian server, right? since that you are from the U.S, your ping will significantly go high why? because ping is the speed of your data that is transmitted from the server and back to your device again, so in other words, if you are from the U.S and you will play in SEA server there will be a delay because the U.S is really far from South East Asia and I highly recommend to choose N.A server if you are from U.S and SEA server if you are from ASIA.

Final Verdict

Lifeafter is an excellent game for me on mobile, although there will be some lags when the internet slows down sometimes, my overall experience with this game is superb, you will meet some new friends especially when you join a camp where a lot of players is your ally, you will do some operation and lots of battle together,

About the controls, the gameplay, and the graphics are astonishing, the only thing that I complain about this game is the invasion where a lot of Zombies will attack your camp, and you and your camp-mates will defend your camp against the invading Zombies, looks fun, right? but the problem is lags, it was so lag in the invasion, I’m not sure but I think the problem is the server, developers should fix the lag issue on invasion, but overall Life after is a must-try online game. !!

  1. As for my experience, I started in 2020 and left the game in 2022. Had some fun memories, but imo the game has some flaws making me not wanting to play it long term.
The most striking part is the grind nature of the game. To achieve 100% in the game, people actually need more than 24 hours a day. And even so, the missions etc are repetitive and you get bored after a while.
And imo if the reviewer mentions lag, then it just shows that no matter what phone you use its going to lag.
And then the power difference. Dont bother with skills. Only stats matter in this game. The rest of the game can be unbalanced too.
Also I think the crafting side is left out. Everything you learn in tutorial only becomes bloatware that you wont ever use after you level up a little.
Combat doesnt really feel smooth, e.g. melee and revenant skills. They couldve made it more complex and functional but its just badly implemented functions that are stapled together into a game. Refer to my previous point how skills dont matter only stats. A good game should feel like a card game where every slight decision matter. Imagine games like Dota2.
Repercussions dont exist. Your vehicle is something you can throw away like paper. (Could have had a mechanic class imo). And in open ground you can basically just run in a straight line to avoid dying to enemies. No challenge, no skills needed. Its only about how many hours you can throw into a game while ignoring your actual real life (or money spent). Not for me. So I left.
Btw I was the ex mayor of Cistern. We opened 2 housing areas with like 5 active players. Intense boss fight, but we did things that needed like 30 people
